RECENT NEWS! Austin, TX based dark rock band ANCIENT VVISDOM (pronounced: Ancient Wisdom) recently released its debut album A Godlike Inferno via Shinebox Recordings.  The much talked about LP was recorded the album at Austin's The Bubble Studio (Built to Spill, Explosions in the Sky, Mammoth Grinder) and delivers "a dark, enlightening foresight into the future of humankind."  Today, Decibel magazine premieres AVV's new music video -- for the stunningly catchy song "The Opposition".  Decibel -- which recently called A Godlike Inferno "a unique occult experience from beginning to end...heavy as hell...definitely metal, and evil as fvck" -- proudly premieres ANCIENT VVISDOM's "The Opposition" at this location.  Get your evil on!

ANCIENT VVISDOM will embark on its first North American tour this coming January as hand-picked openers for Sweden's mysterious GHOST.  The highly anticipated "true occult rock" tour will also include support from Toronto doom rockers BLOOD CEREMONY and promises to be one of underground music's first bona fide touchstones of the New Year.  The GHOST / BLOOD CEREMONY / ANCIENT VVISDOM tour will kick off on January 18 at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City and will run through February 2 in Los Angeles. All three bands were recently spotlighted in a story titled "Occult rock: do you believe in black magic?" by the UK national daily newspaper The Guardian (read here).

Press

  • "Ancient VVisdom string together apocalyptic and gothic folk passages with some clean vocals"  BROOKLYN VEGAN
  • "A Godlike Inferno has the same dark atmosphere of newer Paradise Lost, but without any of the frills that other gothic/doom bands throw into their music"  POPMATTERS
  • "...a darkly charismatic blackened-neo-folk-blues-rock hybrid that plays like a darker shade of Dax Riggs’ goth-blues, or at times when the electric guitars really kick in, a less corny version of Danzig"  VERBICIDE MAGAZINE
  • "(ANCIENT VVISDOM's) "A Godlike Inferno" is not intended to rock your world; only to blacken it. An album for a particular mood perhaps, but nonetheless one filled with songs of dark folk and bleak rock that hooks and a vibe that is, for lack of a better word, cool." BLABBERMOUTH
  • "...deep vox matching the steel-string resonance of an acoustic guitar and the decidedly Arthurian waft of dead maiden atmospherics, all of which comes to fruition in folky clapboard percussion"  AUSTIN CHRONICLE
